Pale Rock, Finally the Dolomites

A tarn at Valparola, two nights in Arabba, and a loop in the limestone

You know you have left the Glockner behind when the rock goes pale. Late on the 1st I rolled into Valparola, that little green tarn and a WWI museum sign pointing at a wall of limestone. Two nights in Arabba. The next day I strung together whatever passes I could before dinner: Pordoi, Falzarego, south of town, cows on the hillside, a hairpin with a chevron, clouds parked on the peaks like they live there.
